PaperIQ Adds 6 Languages to Digital Pen for BlackBerry and Announces New Bluetooth Vehicle Telematics Solution

Orlando, FL - Wireless Enterprise Symposium - BlackBerry® ISV Alliance Member and Silver Sponsor at Wireless Enterprise Symposium 2007, PaperIQ has released an update to its award-winning Digital Pen for BlackBerry solution that provides a fully localised user interface on BlackBerry smartphones with handwriting recognition for notes and forms in six additional languages. Digital Pen for BlackBerry now supports US English, UK English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Dutch.

PaperIQ also announced Vehicle Telematics for BlackBerry, a brand new product that allows enterprises to collect real-time engine and location information from their vehicle fleets’ on-board computers using the BlackBerry® 8800 smartphone. All cars and light trucks built and sold in the US from 1996 and all petrol vehicles sold in Europe from 2001 and diesel vehicles sold from 2004 are required to be equipped with an On Board Diagnostics (OBD II) port. The tiny PaperIQ Vehicle Telematics interface plugs into the vehicle’s OBD II port and transmits vehicle information several times per second to the BlackBerry 8800 smartphone over Bluetooth®. The vehicle’s location is then acquired using the smartphone’s built-in GPS and the data is securely uploaded to the enterprise data warehouse through the PaperIQ Telematics Server, where it’s used to generate real-time reports on the vehicle fleet.

Robert Bakewell, Commercial Director at PaperIQ, comments “PaperIQ have identified key customers who have deployed the BlackBerry® Enterprise solution and would like to deploy the BlackBerry 8800 smartphone to their vehicle fleets for satellite navigation, signature capture and digital paper forms. However, until now they also required additional hardware and a SIM card to collect and report on their vehicle fleets’ health and efficiency. The PaperIQ Vehicle Telematics solution allows them to also collect and transmit this data using the same BlackBerry 8800 smartphone, thereby minimising hardware investment, running costs and support overhead.”

PaperIQ will be demonstrating the updated Digital Pen for BlackBerry application and the brand new Vehicle Telematics solution on booth 603 in the WES Solutions Showcase and in the WES Solutions Theater.
