CELCOM Offers Customised BlackBerry Smartphone Package to Prudential and Launches the New BlackBerry Curve 8310

Kuala Lumpur - Celcom (Malaysia) Berhad, through its subsidiary Celcom Mobile Sdn Bhd, today formalised a joint collaboration with Prudential Assurance Malaysia Berhad to offer Prudential agents and employees a customised BlackBerry® smartphone corporate package, enabling them to enjoy the powerful mobile solution with attractive rates in Malaysia.

In the first phase of this strategic partnership, Celcom will provide voice and data plans to 1,500 of Prudential’s top agents who use the BlackBerry solution. The agents will have the choice to select either the BlackBerry® 8707v smartphone or the newly launched BlackBerry® Curve™ 8310 smartphone from Celcom.

The initiative complements Prudential’s plan to enable its agents with mobile solutions.  Prudential’s agents will be able to quickly and easily access Prudential’s sales force automation application through their BlackBerry smartphone. By allowing their sales staff the flexibility to stay connected while on the go, Prudential’s employees have the added advantage of staying ahead in a highly competitive market.

Representing Celcom at the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony was its General Manager, Enterprise Sales, Global Enterprise, Encik Ahmad Taufek Omar, whilst Mr. Jeffrey Yem, Chief Officer of Customer Service signed on behalf of Prudential. The event was officiated and witnessed by Mr. Tan Kar Hor, Chief Executive Officer of Prudential Assurance Malaysia Berhad and Dato’ Sri Shazalli Ramly, Chief Executive Officer of Celcom.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dato’ Sri Shazalli said, “We are excited to be making two significant announcements today, the first being the deployment of the BlackBerry solution for Prudential agents and employees across the country, and the second being the launch of the BlackBerry Curve 8310. With today’s announcements, Celcom is cementing its position as the country’s largest and most trusted business mobile provider.”

Echoing Dato’ Sri Shazalli’s sentiments, Mr. Tan said: “As a firm believer in technology, we have taken proactive steps, over the years, to provide our agency force with the necessary technological tools to continuously increase their efficiency in conducting their business and accelerate responsiveness to our customers.

“Today, we have gone a step further by collaborating with Celcom to become the first company in Malaysia to use Celcom’s new BlackBerry Curve 8310. With this partnership, we hope to be able to continue realising our vision of having the most ‘well-connected’ agency force in the industry, raising the productivity of our agents and increasing customer satisfaction to an even higher level,” he added.

The BlackBerry Curve 8310 is the latest BlackBerry smartphone to be introduced by Celcom. Other smartphones offered include the BlackBerry 8707v and the BlackBerry® Pearl™ 8100, which comes in three different colours –black, white and red.

The BlackBerry Curve 8310 is an innovative smartphone designed for customers who want a feature-rich multimedia phone with best-in-class voice and data communications.
